About HK Girl Talk

HK Girl Talk is a blog about a girl in her 20-something talking – mainly criticizing the lameness and bragging about the coolness of the Hong Kong city, and also about the guys and girls here. What’s so lame is not the city’s air pollution or utterly high population density; what’s so cool is not the city’s photography-friendly skyline or tax-free luxury goods neither. It’s the weird, illogical and creepy cultures and people that form the insanity and the liveliness of Hong Kong. And because of that, the society has become very interesting to fascinating.

So, I am here to write, criticize and make fun of everything in Hong Kong. My writings are based on my observations and non-senses, though I would do some serious research before writing some specific social issues. Sometimes the stories are just purely random. It is also okay if you think that my articles are ridiculous. I’m not an angel. Be critical, I will listen to all kinds of feedback.

About the Author

This is Jin, currently an online media strategist, a digital geek and a fashion addict. I set up this blog because I question about everything absurd in the society of Hong Kong and I want to explore the answers.

It’s a beautiful coincidence that you checked out my blog because you’re curious about Hong Kong and China. Your visit makes me happy already. But I know that I can still improve a lot and make you happier. If you feel like saying something, leave a comment here. If you want to be a guest writer of this blog, please contact me.

Stumbled across your site and thought it usefully. I am currently learning Cantonese and planning to move to Hong Kong, so I think your blog would be quite useful.

    Hello!

I can’t really remember how I found this blog, but keep it up! I’m one of those people who (er, or rather, whose family) migrated overseas during 1996, hence it’s fascinating to discover more about the culture and society that I never had the chance to experience first-hand.

Thanks for your support and subscription :) . I love exploring the culture here, it’s so crazy and exciting. Hong Kong has changed a lot… it’s a long story.

I stumbled upon your blog too and it’s very interesting. I haven’t had a chance to visit China yet and have always wanted to so this blog is great! (: I can learn about the culture and lifestyle there while I wait… Thanks!

Hi, I just spent about an hour reading your blog…very informational! I am a returning Chinese living and working in HK so it’s always good to learn more about HK culture. Reading your blog has also successfully scared me away from even looking at the local girls, not that they’d look at me anyways because I don’t work in Finance!

Thanks for your support Mister J. Bear in mind that the contents here are just nonsense sometimes and that I just want to make people laugh. Haha. But yeah, welcome back to HK!

      • MisterJ November 2, 2011 at 12:39 pm

Haha. I’d be more inclined to believe you if I haven’t already heard similar things from multiple and reliable sources. Yours was just the nail in the coffin. HK girls have one less eligible bachelor to select from thanks to you. Haha just kidding! Or maybe not! :p

        • Jin November 2, 2011 at 1:54 pm

LOL. I’m glad to be another reliable source. Hahahahaha. Men are scarce in Hong Kong already, losing one more person like you would get the female insane here. :P
